چکیده
Abstract The Fe-Cr metastable miscibility gap has been studied by high-precision thermal treatments, Vickers micro-hardness (HV) measurements, and atom probe tomography (APT). Thermodynamic modeling further supplements the experimental work. results obtained show that recent thermodynamic descriptions of found in literature generally overestimates consolute temperature. We can source ambiguity previous studies is most likely a lack clear distinction between Cr-Cr clustering $$ \alpha^{\prime} α ′ formation. This here made APT results, it leads to determined temperature 580 ± 1 °C for Fe 0.50 Cr . revised captures consistent with overall picture from data literature. Graphic

Atom Probe Analysis of Solute Clustering above a Miscibility Gap
At temperatures just above a miscibility gap, spatially small but large amplitude solute fluctuations or clusters are predicted. These clusters may be retained in the solution upon quenching to a lower temperature and may influence subsequent decomposition kinetics. A model has been developed which quantitatively predicts the shape of composition histograms as a function of temperature and comp...
متن کاملPULSE LASER ATOM PROBE STUDY OF GaP
Gap tips prepared f ran whiskers grown by the vapour phase reaction, were analyzed using our ctmbined-type atom-probe FIM by laser pulse operation instead of high voltage pulse operation. It was found that ( 1 ) The mposition is Ga : P=l : l at cryogenic temperature 45K in vacuum of better than 1 x 10-Ptorr. ( 2 ) Much more cluster ions of phosphorus atan in laser pulse mode are detected in can...
متن کاملCharacterization of the metastable Cu-Fe nanoparticles prepared by the mechanical alloying route
Although Cu and Fe are immiscible under equilibrium conditions, they can form supersaturated solid solutions by mechanical alloying. In this paper, nano-structured of the metastable Cu-Fe phase containing 10, 15, 20 and 25% wt Fe were synthesized by intensive ball milling for 15h, in order to achieve a solid solution of Fe in Cu. The phase composition, dissolution of the Fe atoms into the Cu ma...
متن کاملCharacterization of Precipitates with the Atom Probe
The parameters that can be measured from atom probe random area analyses of small spherical precipitates and platelets have been examined with a combination of simulation and geometrical models. The results indicate that the probe aperture should be less than 50% of the diameter of the precipitate in order to reliable measure the true composition in a significant proportion of precipiates.
متن کاملQuantitative evaluation of spinodal decomposition in Fe-Cr by atom probe tomography and radial distribution function analysis.
Nanostructure evolution during low temperature aging of three binary Fe-Cr alloys has been investigated by atom probe tomography. A new method based on radial distribution function (RDF) analysis to quantify the composition wavelength and amplitude of spinodal decomposition is proposed. Wavelengths estimated from RDF have a power-law type evolution and are in reasonable agreement with wavelengt...
